The Cleveland Browns stunned football fans in Week 10 of the 2023 NFL season with a remarkable comeback victory against their AFC North rivals, the Baltimore Ravens. Despite trailing 17-3 after the first quarter, the Browns rallied and emerged victorious with a thrilling 33-31 win, thanks to a clutch field goal by Dustin Hopkins on the final play of the game.

Starting quarterback Deshaun Watson, who has bravely battled a nagging shoulder injury throughout the season, underwent an MRI on Monday to assess two additional injuries sustained during the game — a left ankle injury and aggravated pain in his right shoulder.

Results from the MRI revealed a high ankle sprain in Watson’s left ankle, along with a displaced fracture to the glenoid in his right shoulder. After consulting with Browns’ Head Physician James Voos, MD, and renowned shoulder specialist Neal ElAttrache, MD, it was decided that Watson would require immediate surgical repair to prevent further damage to his shoulder.

Consequently, the Browns have placed Watson on season-ending injured reserve. They remain optimistic, however, that their star quarterback will make a full recovery in time for the 2024 season.

Notably, during last Sunday’s game, backup quarterback P.J. Walker took the field in a crucial Hail Mary situation at the end of the first half. His presence on the field unfolded a glimpse of the importance he now holds for the team.

With the momentum gained from the victory over the Ravens, the Browns’ playoff hopes now hinge on the abilities of P.J. Walker. As football enthusiasts eagerly await Watson’s return, Walker must step up and demonstrate his skills as the team’s leader, ensuring they remain in contention for a playoff spot.

Although the loss of their starting quarterback poses a significant challenge, the Browns can draw inspiration from their triumph against the Ravens.
